Brown brings more than 25 years experience in higher education, public relations and journalism to his new role, where he directs and coordinates strategic communications, both print and digital.
He was most recently part of the leadership team for University Relations at Carson-Newman University, having served the institution in several capacities since 1995. During that time he was Carson-Newman’s first Online Services director, led the News and Publications Office and worked in Advancement.
The Alabama native began his writing career as a reporter and then editor in suburban Atlanta before managing a county newspaper back in his home state. He holds a B.A. in journalism and a master’s degree in theological studies from Samford University and an M.A. in English from the University of Montevallo.
